Meet Blake

I’ve spent more than a decade building a life in Des Moines and showing up for this community.

My career has taken me from organizing voters across Iowa to working with local nonprofits, community organizations, and the arts. I’ve helped connect people to resources, raised money for causes I care about, served in nonprofit and civic leadership, and stayed involved in the cultural life of this city.

I’m also a renter. I depend on the same services, parks, libraries, and neighborhoods as everyone else. I’m not part of the development community or the donor class, and I don’t think City Hall should be built around either one.
 

I’m running because I love Des Moines, I know what this city can be, and I think the people making decisions for it should reflect and answer to the people who actually live here.

I’m a neighbor who has done the work, asks a lot of questions, and believes Des Moines can be governed in the open and for its residents.
